What we do at Pre School

STARTING PRE SCHOOL. This can be a big moment for both your child and you. We want this to be a happy time and a positive experience for you both. No two children are the same and some will settle without a backwards glance and some will take longer. We will help your child in the way that suits you both, you can stay and play (or sit and drink tea in the kitchen) for as long as you need. Pre 3’s usually stay from 9-11.30am but if you feel that is too long then we are happy for you to collect earlier.

WELLY WALKS. We go exploring around the village and countryside whatever the weather! Children have great fun and learn so much on these adventures and we meet a variety of people and animals on our journeys.

STORY TIME. Father Geoff visits us each week and reads us a story and finds out what we have been doing. We visit the church for Harvest Festival, Easter, Christingle and Christmas. We often join the children from Shepton Beauchamp Primary School www.sheptonbeauchamp.somerset.sch.uk for these activities.

VISITS:?We like to go and explore further afield sometimes, this year we have visited Brown & Forrest Smokery, The Pottery Tea Rooms, Martock Firestation, Isle Abbots Minature Railway. (SEE GALLERY)

TODDLER GROUP. We currently meet the first Thursday of each month from 9.00am – 11.15am. Parents or Grandparents are welcome with babies, toddlers and pre school children at anytime during the morning. Usually a good chance for a natter while the children play! Craft activity, singing and snacks for children and Coffee and Tea and biscuits for grown ups! ?2.50 per child (50p for each additional child).

PREPARING FOR BIG SCHOOL.? We help children to prepare for the next step in their journey – getting changed for P.E, hanging up their own bag and coat and spending time at big school. Many of our children will go on to Shepton Primary School, but we have also had children going to Kingsbury, Hambridge, Greenfylde and South Petherton Primary Schools. We try to work with these schools to help the transition from Pre School to Big School.
